One Last Pop Episode 9

After Simi prayed for Josh that evening, he couldn’t contain the joy he felt in his soul, the restaurant had become a place of encounter for Josh.

Simi saw him off to the car as she still needed to see her Uncle. Josh was still thinking of whom to share this new found love with when his sister call came in.

“Big bro, where are you?, we need to see, very urgent”

Josh panicked, what’s wrong dear, I’m on my way home, where are you?

“At your doorstep, I’m waiting”, she cut the call. Josh drove at high speed thinking about his sister, he had forgotten the whole Joy he had some minutes ago and all he could think of was his little sister.

In 15minutes, Josh was already at the quarters. He parked at the gate and ran in to know what was that urgent for his sister to have dissed her night flight.

Charis seeing him ran into his arms crying he held her tight and after awhile popped the question… “Charis, please tell me, what happened? Are Dad and Mom fine, are you not travelling again?”

Then Charis laughed and wiped her tears, “Brother, I found Jesus!! Yes Jesus”, she said heartily.

Really! Josh screamed! Woah! Jesus

Charis looked at him with mix of surprise and curiosity, ‘Wait, you’re not pissed off, you’re not angry, what has happened to my brother?”

‘Charis, I found him too’, Josh smiled with tears swelling from his eyes. That’s what I needed all this while and I didn’t know, I ran away from home, I consumed myself with lust and drug but none of those fixed me like the 30minutes I just had with Jesus dear.

“I had left the Clinic to commit suicide!”, Josh cried out like a baby

‘I was a Lesbian Josh!’, Charis caught in with more tears flowing

Josh was shocked and more teary, oh my! Charis! How?, “School bro, high class, high life, high mind, so I was introduced to the high system”. I had kept it all secret until I followed a friend of mine who has always consistently plead with me to follow her just once to their church.

So I felt, why not? Before I travel, let me grant her wish. They were praying but not in English or any language I know of when I stepped in. I was about laughing and that was the last thing I remembered bro

Only to wake up after and find myself on the altar, I’ve never felt better Josh, “I saw Jesus, I saw Jesus” Charis cried again and Josh took her inside.

They both narrated their experiences, past and present encounter with tears and laughter, Charis started praying in tongues, she held Josh hands and in few minutes he was screaming louder than his sister. Their prayers lasted into the nights, they couldn’t stop till around 3am, they went to rest. Josh slept in the sitting room and Charis stepped into the bedroom.

The next morning, Josh after much persuasion from Charis agreed to come see their parents that weekend and she left.

One Last Pop Episode 8

To be sincere, I’ve not been myself in the past few days Simi.

From one trouble to another and the most disturbing of them is my sleeping format, it’s as if I’m on the wrong planet. Apart from that, there’s a vacuum in my heart that I’ve been trying divers means to fill up but remains insatiable.

This has Started before the whole crisis in town. The sleeping crisis started the day we all went to the Teslim balogun stadium and the vacuum since I graduated.

Don’t know if it’s because of my actions that has brought this menace or I’m under a spell I can’t identify it’s source.

Simi kept listening carefully and attentively to all his story but praying in her mind as usual for the next cause of action as they sat in a restaurant adjacent to the clinic.

Simi, I know I did something terrible on that day but I can’t tell if that’s the source of my present predicament or something else entirely.

Josh went ahead to narrate how he had used the tract Simi gave to him, what happened aftermath, crisis in the office and how he ended up in her uncle’s clinic.

After awhile, Simi broke the silence letting him know that she was aware of what he did with the tract and that she had been praying for him since they parted ways. She then shared a few scriptures with him, encouraging him that it’s not a death sentence but a call from Jesus, if he was ready to pick up.

Josh sighed heavily as he felt all his questions both past and present had been answered in less than fifteen minutes

One Last Pop Episode 7

His feelings were both buttered and Jammed, one side chocolate, the other side vinegar.

He was happy yet ashamed as he had only met Simi once and his actions were not manly or friendly.

He remembered how he had snubbed the ever smiling simi not that she wasn’t beautiful but she was too smart for him, oh! She’s the flawless caramel-colored, petite frame, African model Lady, everything he is intellectually but much better.

She was calm and collected, of same class yet something was different about her, she is a Christain.

There must be something about that their Jesus, he would rather go for Simi’s Jesus than Lucy’s, he thought to himself.

Simi on the other hand was happy, heavily written on her face, not bothered about how he had reacted the last time they met.

She had chosen to follow Mide (Josh’s best friend) her childhood friend to the Stadium and in the middle of their first hand conversation she gave a biblical answer to Josh’s question, which turned him off.

Not relenting she had given Josh one of the tract she had brought with her to the Stadium, which she planned to share as the show was ongoing with everyone she comes in contact with.

They exchanged pleasantries and within few minutes they got talking, Josh got to know and respect her for her core values. She had come to see her Uncle, she said.

“wait, do you mean Dr. Azhime is your uncle?”, Josh asked

Yes, she said smiling, and what brings you here?, she said.

Josh knew this was his only chance to talk as he was becoming restless and simi had commented on his change in physique since they last met, “you don’t look too good, hope all is well, forgive my curiosity Josh”.

One Last Pop Episode 6

“I know of a specialist who should be able to help out bro, pleeeeaaaaseee call him – 0813327500 Dr. Azhime, Lil sis loves you always”.

Josh wore a dry smile having seen the message, “that’s a head start”. He said to himself.

He had been in comms with his little sister but on a low profile. She had always supported her brother privately as her brother won’t allow her to walk the same path he had chosen.

A fresh graduate from Convenant University, one of the best in Africa, where she graduated with double honors in Microbiology just like her brother but with immediate international offers as she was exceptional in her faculty.

The only daughter and last born of the Azikwe’s Family.

The Azikwe’s Family had just two kids, as the doctor had advised them not to consider childbirth as an option anymore after her birth. there were complications and it was a miracle that both mother and daughter survived the operation.

Both of them were naturally intelligent and outspoken as they took after their parents who were both professionals in their field.

After three weeks of going for therapy without positive change, every prescription and counsel was futile.

There was no session he didn’t sleep off in the middle of a conversation.

The Doctor had sincerely put all his best to it yet nothing changed.

He woke up 6pm during one of the sessions, stormed out of the office making up his mind to commit suicide since nothing could save him, not even hundreds of thousands savings he had plans for!

Then he bumped into Simi who gave him the tract!

He was about knocking on Lucy’s door when he heard strange sounds and moanings popping.

It was a Wednesday evening which means her husband could not be around and she was always the only one in the house days as such.

Perhaps she was crying or in pain, Josh decide to peep before he knows what to do next.

Only to check through the window as the curtains were up and saw Lucy and the Security Guard in an awkward state.

He walked away angrily feeling it was not the tract afterall, since their God did not mind the Always Praying married Lucy having sex with the security guard.

He was confused as to what to do next, there was no one else he could turn to. Jesus was out of the picture since Lucy has proven otherwise.

Just as he walked to his quarters, there was a beep on his cellphone. It was a message from his little sister, Flora.

One Last Pop Episode 4

Josh was trying to man up as he left the hospital but deep within he was confused and cheerless.

Was Jesus punishing me for using his tract for just one last pop?

Was it because I said “her God won’t mind”? What’s her name by the way, that Mide’s friend?

Or this is just me having hard time living because I didn’t accept my parents decision to marry Charis or managing the family business?

Is this perhaps a spell from one of the ladies I’ve slept with and dissed?

How will I begin to call them now and apologize to the right one who will forgive me soon enough?

“I’ve even lost count”, he said to himself as he walked to his car.

Josh had great potentials and wanted to succeed on his own terms but his wantonness has left him empty without a coin of direction and estranged from his family.

One Last Pop Episode 3

Josh couldn’t call in sick since he had a query to respond to, no excuse came to mind so he went to the office an hour early.

Right there in his office preparing to respond to the query, he slept off again!

Cuddling the new system that was just installed by the IT department.

Quickly, he was carried from the office to the clinic by his friend and few staffs, who met him sprawled on the floor already.

At exactly 6pm, he woke up on the hospital bed full of despair.

This time, it was just his friend with a worried expression and a sack letter issued after he was brought to the clinic.

He had to explain himself to his friend, Mide who was obviously not believing his story and walked out angrily.

Thinking he was cooking up stories as usual and this time got burnt.

Josh left the hospital confused but made up his mind to meet his next door neighbor, Lucy (married with two kids) who prays all night.

Lucy, as everyone called her in the compound has been married for 5years to her always travelling husband as his business required.

Her children were in boarding school, so practically she stayed alone and a prayer woman she is, as her voice echoes through the flat every night.

Josh never had a conversation with her apart from casual greetings when their paths crossed in the morning while he leaves for work.

One Last Pop Episode 2

His friend, Mide did all he could to wake him up but all was otiose.

It was like Josh ‘The Coal Bender’, as they used to call him, for his PhD in smoking and having his way with Ladies since their university days has just been burnt!

Josh did not wake up until exactly 6pm, his closing hours!

He was metagrabolised to see his state, system wrecked, gawking eyes from different angles and a query letter on his desk.

He wasn’t fired yet, since his dad’s friend is the manager but he had some explaining to do.

Mide closed the door beckoning on his friend to explain to him what went wrong after they parted yesterday evening

Josh had no answer other than sleepless night and migraine as a cover up.

He went home believing the chapter was over, only for the sleepless night to repeat itself.

Josh was awake till 6am as the alarm resounded in his room.

He was scared of the same episode repeating itself at the office as he still had one query to answer and couldn’t afford another.

One Last Pop Episode 1

It all happened at the Teslim balogun stadium, Nigeria. The play was getting boring to Josh as he was having the urge to smoke but was already out of packs.

All that was left with him was the tract given to him by his friend’s friend, Simi who followed them to watch the Live African stage play, “Things fall Apart” originally written by World renowned writer, Late Chinua Achebe.

He went to the back of stadium to cool out has he had done the past 17 times without been caught.

“It’s just a paper, her God won’t mind” he encouraged himself.

After the play was over, he bade his friends and went home to prepare for Monday’s work as it was already getting late.

Josh laid down but could not sleep!

Thought it was just a fluke and would sleep off in no time…

He kept rolling from one side of the bed to the other yet sleep seemed to be a stranger that night and he was awake till 6am!

He got to work so heavy that morning  but couldn’t tell his friend what had happened.

Everything was going fine until he dozed off on his table cuddling his system as a pillow!

From Genesis to Twitter

One confession I’m willing to make

One conversation I kept private

One thought loud in my mind

One craving I’ve always had

One habit I couldn’t manage…..

“Bibi! What exactly are you driving at?, this piece looks good but I’m actually getting tired of your suspense to be sincere”.

Bubu, my bestie for life, twin sister and first-off audience who always get to hear my vibe first before I tweet them 😁

We’ve been living together since we both dropped out from Law school, that’s by the way…

Presently Bankers, at the same bank and branch. I’ve always been passionate about writing and sharing my thoughts.

Apathetic towards Law but our parents wanted us to continue in their legacy.

Mom, presently a Chief Judge and Dad Ex Chief Judge but retired as National President of the Council of Judges.

We were tied to their own destiny until our results and their money couldn’t keep us anymore in Law school. I was given to writing but Bubu loved banking.

I joined her in banking because I needed money to establish my writing prowess but I never stopped tweeting and Bubu never stopped proofreading.

When Bubu died, I almost lost my mind, I was confused and frustrated, ‘why would God take away someone like Bubu?’

Everyone loved her, she was extra in all, even with our work schedules she never missed any church service; children and teenagers coordinator, Sisters Fellowship president and ofcourse our bible study officer.

Though our parents never had time for such but she was a good definition of dedication and genuine love.

The pastor’s sermon during her burial was from Genesis, he spoke about how God created everything in Light, nothing was made in darkness, revealing to us that God has a plan for everyone and would never leave anyone in darkness as long as they’re with him.

He also shared the last verse of the first chapter with us, “And God saw goodness in all he had made”, telling us it was out of his goodness he took Bubu home having shared the goodness in her.

And since that time I drew closer to God and his word to know his mind concerning me and live out his plans for my life

And in his goodness take me home too when the time comes. So Dear Reader, are you also living out God’s plan for your life?

I miss Bubu and perhaps there’s someone you miss too and instead of living in that grief, why not live out your life too with the whole goodness the Lord has deposited in us all.

Thanks for Reading.

Yours Sincerely,

Green (The Village Boy).
