Lamentations of Lot

I don’t plan waking today to see
you still living in my yesterday,
the bangles we couldn’t let go have now become the shackles we are drawn with,
the path I zoomed off from
now I can’t go back to it.

I can’t teach anyone success as my life already describes what failure is.
If I could turn back the hands of time,
perhaps I would have told uncle Abraham never to let me choose on my own.

The paths I desired from a distance
the life I desired in my dreams
brought me back only
to where uncle took me out from.
To those who don’t know my story
I am Lot, whose lot is now to be forgotten,
as my generation remains without a worth.

I’m to be blamed for my daughters choice
I sought for a change but couldn’t find my way.

I hope you learn and not tread my path!
go not to Sodom, your wife can’t be from there!
except you don’t want the best for your generations too.

You may not find a mother like Sarah,
but a morsel with peace is better
than a feast with restlessness.
I hope you find light in this,
before the lights goes out
I take my leave now!

I am Lot!

Off Babel-Episode 11

The man in white returned, this time his white was soaked in blood and dripping.

Sunday who was lying weak, looked up but the brightness of light that surrounded the man in white made him bow in fear…

Fear not, I am the one who stands in the midst of the Candlesticks, The Highpriest and advocate with the Father, Christ Jesus the righteous!

Sunday Eganlantinrin, I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

In the beginning I was, I am and will be, as I was at your birth. I, The Word named you after the day which I rested, that you may establish my will upon the earth.

You were born with a golden fiery staff instilled in your voice, the same one passed down from the lineage of Judah, emblem of Authority which you were to use to rule and oppress Darkness but you never used it as I desired.

You despised that which I gave you, saw it as little and allow the devil to take it from you. I took you to the place of pruning, the house of your pastor where you’d learn how to use the staff right and made Anu stand by you as your Aaron.

Did I not see Babel aiming at you? Let God be true but every man a liar! Sunday! He that calleth thee is faithful to establish you and keep you from all evil.

And now that you’ve seen and understood the wiles of Babel! Her house which is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death. If I bring you off Babel! What would you do for me in Return? The Light blazed more!

Sunday was speechless… he couldn’t look up, then he heard the voice of wisdom loud in his ears and he reiterated what he heard… I’LL BE THE CANDLE TO TAKE MANY OFF BABEL, IF YOU GIVE ME ANOTHER CHANCE.

They were blindfolded, sore scared. They were shivering like chickens in the wind
The atmosphere was strange, fiery and reeked with evil.

They couldn’t tell what went wrong as the last thing they could tell was that, they were chilling at the party on the Island after the music awards ceremony. Twenty of them, bound and blindfolded in the dark room.

They were more of a robot, as their souls were present without their bodies…

In awhile, it all got hotter…

Yes! it was the raging of the Dark Lord…

My blind Servants!!!

What have you done?

You think I made all this available at your finger tips – Fame, irresistible sounds, influence, lyrics and wealth just to release this kind of music?
I stole from the sleeping saints to give to you and yet you repay me this way?

Your songs are not soul damaging enough!

Take them out of my sight!

° °. °. °. °

Sunday could not hide his shock and in his befuddlement, he said… Is there… still… hope… for… me?

Hmmmn… let’s see, there are candlesticks before the throne ignited for you, if it’s not out, sure there’s hope!

Sunday heaves a sigh of relief, hoping for the best… but what does this candles represent, my life line?

Right question, it’s not your lifeline Sunday, for a man can only live on earth once, although there are some special cases but this candles represent those Saints on earth standing in gap, interceding on your behalf.

Sunday remembered Anu instantly.

Your thoughts are right, she’s one of them but let’s go check…

More reason why God’s children are urged to see, not with their very eyes but with the eyes of the Spirit.

For it is written in the scriptures in Proverbs chapter 2 verses 18 and 19; For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead. None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

They’ve been trying to attack you Sunday, since the day you were sent from Heaven to the family of Eganlantinrin.

You were sent to that deep village to be preserved from the eyes of the Vultures.

Anu was your sycamore tree to point you to the path of salvation yet you allowed wealth and influence lead you to the path of destruction, only if you knew who you’d become.

I’ve been walking with you since you were given birth to and I never stopped, trying to make you see the king you were sent to be, exposing Babylon and her Dark Lord.

Dark Lord?? I’ve heard of that name once… I can’t remember but it must be during or after that African Awards night, Mr Laab had told us we would be going for another party. That was the last thing I remember of that night, I thought it was just a dream…

Oh you mean Baal??

Haaa! so Laab is Baal? I freely walked into the den of lies and deceit.

Now you’re following… and their Dark Lord, the Father of lies, there’s no truth in him.

They knew who you were from the beginning and have been trying to get you, that was why Jezzy – the moon princess as you know her to be, Jezebel! She’s an high priestess, a sorcerer and enemy of everything righteous… the man in white shakes his head… called you her Prize! You remember??

Sunday remained speechless…

Let me show you what happened that day, that seems to be locked up in your subconscious as a dream!

“Oh brother! thank you so much

Kai, we were so blessed, we can’t repay you Sir

only Jesus oh, God bless you!”

That was the end of conversation as the pastor turned back, entered his car with his family and left the crew standing right in front of the Church.

Hmmmmn… The very words that haunted, shattered and scattered them!

Are they kidding me!!! Donald voiced out….. After 2hours ministration and that 45minutes extra! Thank you, we can’t repay you! (mimicking the pastor with gestures) Do they even know where we are coming from Sunday! Because we are young or what!

Guys, please relax … Anu interrupted

Relax ke! Funto responded… Do you know what you’re talking about Anu…

oh so the mouth of the ox we muzzle must not eat, that’s not even my problem… I know I’m good to go! But what about the 15,000 we had to borrow for transport and how will Donald and Sunday survived, both of us can still make do but where will they start from?

This is trash, this here… I’m done! Donald screamed

Bro… Bro… Please don’t do this… Sunday spoke up softly.

Don’t do what Sunday, I should trek back on a 5hours journey to school?
Goodbye! Donald walks away…

Where are you now going, where would you go? Anu queried as Donald walked away angrily!

Where I should have gone long time ago, bye! Don’t worry about me…

Guys, I’m sorry but I need to leave too… I just pity you Sunday but the money with me now can only take me to my cousin’s house and I can’t take you guys there, Jesus will come through for you ehn

Our redeemer liveth, abiKiya hakuri Sir… Turrrh, sai anjuma (Hausa translated: Sorry Sir… uhmmn! Good bye) She waved at them and left.

Sunday, what do we do… she looked at Sunday who was already teary and shattered.

I had high hopes for this program and it was Sister Dupe that linked us to this church.

Knowing its Lagos, I was sure they would come through. I had planned to pay my house rent, give you guys a share, and at least still have something to spend through the month.

Now I can’t even pay for my transport… his phone rang.

Wait, this is the Jessy I was talking about last week ooh… she’s calling.

Who’s this Jessy? I’ve not met her and how come it’s only you that I’ve seen her and you say she’s interested in your music?

Hold on, let me hear what she has to say again… told her I’ll think about it …

Hello Miss Jessy

Hello Sunday…. Haba, you can just call me J

Whatsup, where are you?? I’ve been to your place twice today and it’s unlike you not to be home by now… just checking on you… hope no problem?

Without knowing how, in few minutes, Sunday had narrated every single predicament he was facing. Even the ones Anu were not aware of as she stood there agape with wonder. In about 25minutes they were done talking after sharing his account number with her and he dropped the call.

What just happened right now Sunday?

Uhmmn! I… spoke… his phone beeped…

Jesus! 50,000… Anu she sent me 50,000… I knew in my spirit that she was an angel, the first time I met her!

Sun…day! in your spirit!haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Are you not happy??

I’m worried Sunday! I’m worried…. we thank God for the provision but before you go ahead saying yes to whatever offer, we will pray for 3days to confirm that your spirit conviction ooooh!

Hello Sir… are you listening to me?

But what is the harm there? Do we have to fast! Remember we were stranded and the Lord came through for us and now we have to fast through this? Even a blind man can tell that this is a confirmation from God.

Jezzy is just a connoisseur in music and her Dad is a big shot, you know…

Turrhhhh… thank God we are not blind oooh,
We will go home by God’s grace and we will still observe that fast except you want me to leave too…

Haa! Nooooo… It’s not up to that naa. Okay, we will fast… Just 3days baa? Thank you Anu. God bless you .

Hmmm… Spiritual Uncle! She laughed.

Mr connoisseur, na English den go still use steal you commot, no wahala! (pidgin – your diction could announce you more, worry less!)

Ahn ahn… You want to start teasing me now ni? Let’s go ooo! Sunday dragged her hands and they laughed as they walked to the park.

Episode 1

“Oh brother! thank you so much.

Kai, we were so blessed, we can’t repay you Sir

only Jesus oh, God bless you!”

Hmmmmn… The very words that haunted them, shattered and scattered the whole crew!

Sunday Egalantinrin is the son of Egalantinrin Akanmu, a mechanic and Mrs Shade Egalantinrin, a bread seller. He’s their only son with three daughters before him, three behind him and he loves singing!

They lived in Alakasade village in Okanlawonlo town in the outskirts of Mobawondena. The village was the poorest, far behind civilization and unknown to anyone outside this village no matter how it is described…

The only resource in the village is their river, where they bathe, drink from and also use in cooking, excreting and washing, river Kaiki.

The village is 5hours by foot to the next village where they can get a transport to the town and 4 and a half hours by bicycle which is the only other means of transport in the village owned by their Village head, Chief Eganlantinrin, Akanmu’s father and Sunday’s grandfather.

Each families in the village queue to book it for use. There are 40 families in the village, sometimes it might take at least a month to go round for everyone.

Chief Eganlantinrin brought in Christianity to the village as he was also a mechanic who had received the gospel in the town.

Though, not all the villagers were given to the new religion as some still chose to worship stones and figurines yet he ensured his household followed that pathway, his son Akanmu took over from him as the chief when he died. Education has always been what the chief desired but life and location did not give him the chance and made Akanmu his son promise him at his deathbed to send his grandson to school at all cost.
